This guest post comes from our Chapter 1 Next Step Chronicles Blogger Robert, who last time we heard from him was searching for a job, honing his writing skills and looking inside for inspiration for his next step in life. Read on to see what he’s been up to during the last few months of his job hunt.
Hello, faithful readers, it’s been a while. I suppose you’re probably wondering what I’ve been up to since you last heard from me. Well… not much has changed. I’m still looking for work, I’m still writing for some blogs, and I’m still the geek I was since you last heard from me.
Of course, that’s not to say I’ve just been cryogenically frozen until BrandKit called upon me to write again. No, I’ve been doing quite a bit. Recently there was FanimeCon, one of the largest anime conventions in California, but you can read all about that at www.caliconblog.net. There was quite a lot of cosplaying, some hanging with friends, and generally having an awesome time.
I’ve also had a few more job interviews.
I always think they go well, but since I rarely hear back, I just don’t know anymore.
I spoke to some people about my interviewing skills, and they say I’m just fine, so maybe I just lack the experience, which brings me to the nasty Catch-22 of job hunting: you need experience to get a job, but you can’t get experience without one.
Still, just gotta keep trying! I’ll only fail once I’ve given up.
I suppose that’s about all that’s really happened for me lately. I can’t say there’s been any crazy changes in my life, but sometimes that’s how it is. We hit these lulls, they pass by, then something awesome happens for a little while before the next stretch of downtime.
Ah, what the hell, if there’s nothing awesome going on, might as well make it happen.
